Update! Please read our article about the award giving ceremony HERE.

Our new ‘Whitchurch Arts Award’, endorsed by the Whitchurch Town Council, will be given for the first time to Richard Adams, author of many books, including the popular Watership Down.

Richard Adams reads from his book 'Watership Down' at the Aldo Galli exhibition of paintings based on the book.

In celebration of his tremendous creativity and inspiration, Whitchurch Arts is hosting an awards luncheon in his honour this Saturday, 16th January 2010 at 12:30 in the Watership Down pub in nearby Freefolk.

All are welcome!

The actual Watership Down landscape is on the doorstep of the pub, and there are many lovely walks nearby.

Michelle and Peter Cozens, new to the Watership Down pub, will be cooking a very special lunch of Rabbit and Vegetarian options.

The Whitchurch Arts Off the Walls event at the Gill Nethercott Centre on Sunday, 21 June 2009 was a smashing success for local artists and businesses.

The Festival Queen, Annabel Sankey, formally opened the show and welcomed the guests before having a wander around the hall to see the numerous paintings, photographs, drawings, ceramics and sculptures on display. Eric Dunlop, our treasurer, set up his steel guitar and entertained the visitors with enchanting music.

Many owners of local establishments were invited and came personally so that they could choose works for hanging in their businesses.

If there had been a prize for the business selecting the most artwork, then the Watership Down pub would have won easily! Many other businesses selected several pieces to go on their walls.

More photos can be seen in our newly launched online gallery!

Art is still available, too – if you’d like some for your Whitchurch business, then please contact us and we’ll help you be a part of this exciting community project.Assisted by BDBC Logo Black
