Category:  | Tags: , ,  | Comments off

Emma spent her childhood in the scenic village of Overton, and moved into Whitchurch at the age of 15, where she was already attending Testbourne Community Secondary School. She has always had a great passion for art from a young age, which allowed her to expand when studying at GCSE. The final years of secondary school proved to be a real challenge, yet inspired her a great deal more, building on various techniques and styles. After a pleasing set of GCSE results in 2009, Emma enrolled at Peter Symonds College in Winchester, studying AS levels; Fine Art, Textile Art, Sociology, Law, General studies and Key Skills level 3. She is currently studying hard for numerous exams, spending any free time with friends or doing art. During holidays and some weekends she also participates in a sport called Equestrian Vaulting which sadly she can no longer do frequently due to commitments to college, but is still eager to keep up.

‘Art and Textiles are great at college. I’m constantly learning new skills which allows me to develop my work, not to mention giving me slightly more relaxed periods between the more academic areas of college’

Dorothy loves creating things in glass for specific sites.   She designs and makes traditional and contemporary stained glass panels, screens and windows;  creates modern fused glass wall hangings and bespoke vessels;  dabbles with garden glass, water features, sculptures and constructions; and enjoys the discipline of mosaics.

After various courses and master classes in the UK, she gained a placement in Siena where she completed a traditional apprenticeship with Vertrate Artistiche Toscane and privately undertook weekend courses in mosaics in Florence.  On return to the UK she gained post-graduate qualifications in Architectural Glass at Central St Martins (London University for the Arts).

Recently she has also been experimenting with more modern materials such as window films and Perspex, and continues to explore ideas for 3D pieces.

She is happy to discuss ideas for glass features for your home, business, garden or public site – to create items for fun, for celebration or commemoration. Contact Dorothy on 01256  780 579 or email to decollard@btinternet.com

Sally Watts has always had a real love and appreciation for nature, painting (and artwork of many kinds). She decided to take it up in a more serious way, studying drawing and painting in many media, attending art classes and workshops.

Sally was invited to join Overton Art Group where she has painted regularly and exhibited successfully for quite a number of years.

Sally says, “I like to think I put atmosphere and feeling into what I paint, in order to ‘bring it to life’, in the hope of evoking emotions in the mind of the observer.”

Prints and cards from original works are also available.
