Local musicians, guitarist Sam Page and drummer Simon Nash, with their four-piece band The Fortunate recently won a talent competition (see article in the Basingstoke Gazette) and are off to the regional finals in Portsmouth on May 30.
If they win there, then they will be off to the national final in London in July where they can win a recording contract.
Congratulations!

The Heidi McLaughlin Band will be performing live at The Kings Arms Whitchurch this Saturday 6th March from 9:00.
They play a good mix of bluesy rock originals and covers, some of which are good to dance to.
Those of you who have seen them know you are in for a good night and for those of you that have not WHY NOT???
The gig is free, so you can spend all your money on beer.

The Heidi McLaughlin Band is playing live at The White Hart on Saturday 5th December from about 8:30pm. Admission is free, however it would be very good of you to support the venue by buying a drink or two!
Check out pics from their previous gigs at the Kings Arms and Parish Hall.
Okay, the title might be a stretch just to start each word with the musical scale…but the substance is pretty cool: a Devon based musician set up Eigenlabs with musicians and a development team to create a new instrument called an Eigenharp. The basic version, according to the BBC article is £349, the expensive ten times as much.
The BBC article (click HERE) includes photos and catchy tune played by an unnamed band.
If you buy one, then bring it along to one of our meetings to give us a demo!
The Heidi McLaughlin band has featured on our pages before, for good reason – they are a rockin’ good band to enjoy whenever and wherever they are in town.
Tonight, they were playing at the King’s Arms pub to a full house. It was a tight squeeze in more ways than one. They belted out their homegrown music and songs as well as classic rock and blues.
Spare a thought, though, for the lead singer who had to take swigs of cough syrup every three songs, and dodge more…
