Some inspiration for your endeavours…by other artists…
Stop-Motion Video
A world exclusive to Whitchurch Arts! A local artist in Year 2 at Whitchurch Primary School has made a stop-motion video.
Katie Bilton (with a bit of help from Mike, her dad) created this short film in September 2009. Thank you Katie and Mike for permitting us to share this achievement with the world.
If you know of other local artists in our schools that are similarly talented, then please do contact us!
Without further ado, here is the world-premiere of Katie Bilton’s short film:
Pavement Picasso

Julian Beever is a chalk artist who has been creating trompe-l’œil chalk drawings on pavement surfaces since the mid-1990s. The drawings create the illusion of three dimensions when viewed from the correct angle.
Many more photos of his work are on Flickr HERE.
Drawing on the Walls
Remember your parents telling you as a kid: “Don’t draw on the walls!”?
Well, now, many artists are ignoring their parents and making some creative use of the walls around us.
First up is a wall painter who uses stop-action photography to bring wall drawings to life…their website at BluBlu is also a very creative retro-design (a pre-web web interface!).
Other artists are using powerful projectors to bring the walls of buildings to life.
The next video is an example of a custom projection for a wedding or birthday by the UK company SP-Projects (see their website for some interesting photos of lit trees, too). The video below that is a collection of projections projects.
Linked Painting
An oil painting of People of Influence from 2006 has been scanned and links added to each face, which take you to a Wikipedia article about the person your mouse is hovering over.
Be warned: it can take hours out of your life to explore just a small sample of the faces in the painting!
Its a fun example of combining old style (oil painting) with new (links to internet pages).

Lego Mosaics
How’s this for a bit of fun? Turn a photo into a lego block construction!
There exists a tutorial on how to make a picture of lego blocks that look like your photo.
Surely, though, the real fun must be in buying a bucket of lego blocks (or stealing them from your kids, brother, sister, nephew, neice, …) and actually building the photo – have a look at someone who created Stary Night out of lego.
If you do this with one of your photos, then please bring it along to our next meeting to show it off!
And, if you have a bit of spare time, then why not try to break the world record…
