Richard Adams is a writer. He was born in Berkshire, England, in 1920. His most popular and well-known book is Watership Down; which is set in the area near to Whitchurch. All told he has nineteen published books.
Richard won the Caregie Media for Best Novel (Watership Down) in 1973. He was nominated for the Mythopoetic Fantasy Award for Adult Literature in 1975 for Best Novel (Watership Down).
In 2008 he was the guest of honour at the Whitchurch Arts exhibition of paitings by Aldo Galli, which were inspired by Watership Down.
And in 2010, he was the first receipient of the Whitchurch Arts Award.
