Whitchurch Arts members have won a prestigious place at this July’s Hampton Court Palace International Flower Show.

Graham Burgess, the chair of Whitchurch Arts, will be creating a garden for the show along with Whitchurch Arts member Stephen Miller and other local artists Paul Harvey and Shelley Gibb.

The garden is one of several that depict the life of King Henry VIII, who ascended to the throne 500 years ago this year.  Graham’s garden is all about Katherine of Arragon.

Stephen, one of the winners from our Christmas’ window decoration competition, has set up a company with Graham to create works of art – the first of which will be on public show at the garden.

Paul, a local sculpturist, will be creating symbolic birds.

Shelley is designing a wonderful pomegranate to hang in the Pomegranate Tree as a symbol of Arragon’s dynasty.

Winning Design for Dollin's Christmas Card

Winning Design for Whitchurch Primary School's Christmas Card

Two children from Whitchurch Primary School have won the Christmas Card design competition put on by John Dollin Printing Services Ltd.

Alice Gibb’s design will be on the Christmas Cards given out by John Dollin; and Tolii Reeves-Hall’s design will be on the school’s card.

The children were invited to John Dollin last Wednesday to watch their drawing being made into the cards.  The general manager, John Young, showed the enthusiastic youngsters around the shop floor where they saw many kinds of posters, brochures and cards being made.

Congratulations to these young artistic winners!
