In celebration of Czech Republic taking the EU presidency (it switches every 6 months, don’t you know) a piece of art was commissioned.

The EU bureaucrats got more than they bargained for when they commissioned the notorious Czech artist David Cerny to make something to remember the moment.

Gosh darn it, that artist went and did something creative (in line with his other works too), and it pissed off an entire country and perhaps an entire region of the globe (quite an accomplishment for an artist, and something he will no doubt relish in). By the way, if you agree with the backlash, then go to David’s website and shoot him with your mouse.

You can see what all the fuss is about for yourself at the BBC website* (or in Brussels if you happen to be going there — just hurry, it might be quietly flushed). *warning: the vidoe clip includes the artist apologizing, sort-of.
